Happy Halloween

Halloween isn't really my cup of tea - I'm just not a fan. But a girl could never turn down a glamorous, avant garde mascarade ball, right? That's my kind of Halloween!

Road Trip

Road trip for the hubby and me - and even though football is involved, I can bet it's still going to be a blast!

The Small Touches

For some reason, I'm just dying when I see this shot. I love how it all comes together with the quirky little touches - and of course, Domino! One of those shots that just makes me happy.

A few more shots below with those special touches.

Pictures in the bookshelves with fresh flowers!

Funky artwork with cozy furnishings!

And of course a tidy little bathroom!

Frayed

I am a complete sucker for the mix of a destroyed, worn in jean with some fancy heels. I don't know what it is, but I think it is perfection! It adds a little downtown grunge to the uptown class. Genius!

Let's Start with Dessert

I have been obsessed with all things berry lately, especially when it comes to dessert - blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, strawberry - love them all! But raspberries have been the front-runner for a while now. I just love that tart flavor that they bring to the table. If I could have my way, I would seriously eat a raspberry dessert every single night of the week. And tonight would be a great night to start. (I curse you, Monday!)

Give yourself a treat this week and go out and get a raspberry dessert! It will make a world of difference in any Monday.

And doesn't that raspberry pavlova just make you want to dive in? Seriously, no knife and fork to cut a dainty little piece - give me a spoon, and I'm digging in!

A New Abode

A new abode could be on the horizon for us, so stay tuned! I imagine our place (our "family" place that is - we're not there yet!) to be very open but cozy, very modern but comforting, very . . . well, we'll just have to wait and see. You know I could go on dreaming forever. That's me - the dreamer!

Let's Go Rangers

It's the weekend, baby! And the doctor calls for a little Rangers date-night with the hubby and friends. Now I admit that I'm not a huge baseball fan, but the Rangers could go to the World Series if they win tonight. Even that is a little exciting - right? Not as much as a Chanel couture runway show, but hey - I'm in Texas, not Milan! Enjoy!

The Dressing Room - Yes, Please!

Could these possibly be true? These closets, excuse me, dressing rooms, are like an urban myth. I am definitely adding a dressing room to the dream house wish list. (Yes, I know its super long and ridiculously expensive by now - but that's why it's called a "dream" house!)

I don't know how the hubby is going to feel about giving me a whole room for clothes, shoes and accessories, but maybe a little bribe will do the trick - recording studio! Just look how the sofa, wall paper and luxurious decorations make the spaces so inviting - I need! I don't think I would ever leave.

I really don't think getting dressed in the morning (or anytime of the day) could get any better than having a wonderful "dressing room" such as these! I'll be having good dreams tonight of my new, beautiful, very own dressing room, and then rudely awakened in the morning when I have to get ready in my tiny, crowded closet. (And believe it or not, I have half my stuff in the hubby's closet as well! - I truly need the extra space!)

Ruffles

Another exhausting day! This week isn't starting out so well - I don't know if I can make it. (Well, I guess I have to make it; what other option do I have?)

So to brighten the mood a bit, I give you - ruffles! What girl doesn't like ruffles? Now I admit, I'm not the "ruffle-fluffle" (yes, I made that up) type of girl, but every now and then when I want to be super girly and get swept away by something pretty and fabulous - I revert to ruffles. And this Zuhair Murad dress fits the bill perfectly!

It would only make things a little better if I was wearing it here at home tonight . . . on the couch . . . just laying around. Yes, that would be better!

PS - I will "spunk-up" tomorrow, I promise!

Beautiful Simplicity

I don't know why spaces like this make me so happy? Is it the fresh flowers, the bright color of the oranges, the intriguing photography, or the beautiful simplicity? I can't really pin-point it, but I love it all!

On this Monday, (Yuck! - weekend, where did you go? You never stay around long enough!) I need something to raise my spirits a bit, and believe it or not, this kitchen does just that! And that's a good thing - we have another week to make it through and I'm already struggling!

Get in the Groove

Normally I'm not a fan of the 70s, but I'm loving these interiors by Jamie Bush. Unlike most 70s references, these have class and sophistication that leave me drooling!

The muted colors and clean space are just so right. Just look at those chandeliers in the dining room paired with the sleek table - so right! And that couch - so right! (I need it! Seriously!)

I think I'm loving the 70s, and trust me, that's the last thing I thought I would ever say.

Can't get enough of Alexa Chung

Thought I would splurge and give a little more Alexa-love to you all. Her awkwardness just couldn't be more right in my book. That's what I like (if you haven't figured out yet) a little off beat, a little out of the ordinary. It comes out so perfectly and so fresh! I can't get enough of Alexa and could just admire her style all freakin' day!

Bohemia on Kate Mefford

Much to my surprise as I was perusing my favorite photography blogs today, (yes, at work - shh!) I stumbled upon a post devoted to me - Bohemia!

Kate Mefford is 1. a dear friend and 2. a terrific photographer. We first crossed paths 2 years ago when she photographed my wedding and all the shin-digs that go along with it. We clicked from the beginning and have never looked back. We could ramble along for hours talking about inspiration for shoots, great magazine spreads, creative ideas, or basically anything and everything. Now she is our go-to gal whenever we need photos, no matter the occasion. Check out her sweet post about Bohemia here. (And don't forget to look around her site and blog - as it is so so fabulous, just like her!)

PS - A little side note to all you brides out there - 1. If you can get Kate, book her and fast. She is amazing! 2. If you would like any help with your wedding (ideas, venues, creative inspiration, etc) shoot me an email or leave a comment and I'd love to help any way that I can.

Spot On

Today was a struggle, let me tell you. It was just dragging by and didn't want to end. But finally, it did - thank goodness!

Now I can focus my attention on something a little more amusing - the spectacular fashion of Alexa Chung. (I just love her and can't say that enough! Love her!) She has the perfect mix of quirky, simplistic, trendy, and modern all rolled into one glamorous little ball. Just look at her in that simple leopard shift! Now, I'm not a huge animal print kind of gal, but I could definitely see myself sporting this little number a la Miss Alexa.

The Masculine Apartment

OK guys, take note - you can have a masculine apartment that doesn't have to be a pig-sty with no styling direction. The photographer Roland Belo's apartment is absolutely jaw-dropping - just look at that couch, that kitchen, that dining room table - oh my!

Even though the hubby has great taste, I will say that before we got married, his house was a far cry from Roland's above. The minimalism and earthy colors show no sign of the feminine touch, but it all comes together so perfectly and doesn't look harsh at all.

I'll admit, that I would even love to call this home. Great design has no limits for gender! Guys, you gotta step it up!

Happy Weekend!

We made it another week - whew! It was a tough one to get through, but our friend, the weekend, came back to visit right in the nick of time. (I just love it when he does that!)

Cheers - to a very happy, fun-filled, jam-packed, laugh-it-up, time-of-our-lives weekend!

Pizza Party

Who's up for a pizza party? (Don't ask that to the hubby because he would literally say yes every single day!) I am a pizza-lover just as well, but not everyday please. First, my taste buds need a break (fabulousness loses its flavor if you eat it everyday, right?) and second, my waist-line needs a break (pizza is not exactly figure-friendly, you know what I'm saying?!)

But tonight, we're definitely up for a pizza party with friends. And yes, margarita pizza is on the menu - I'm in!

Dreaming in White

Loving the multi-level!

I don't think a bathroom can get any better!

Little can make me happier than a white bed!

I have had deep fascination with all things white for quite some time - pretty much as long as I can remember. Most would say that I'm crazy because it's so impractical - but how can you resist! Just look at the images above! Isn't it so dreamy, so clean, so calming, so other-worldly? For some reason, unbeknown-st to me and everyone else who knows me, white interiors bring me a sense of "ah" that little else can top and catapult me to my dream world!

Clemence Poesy

I am loving Clemence Poesy on Gossip Girl lately. (Yes, I'm a Gossip Girl fan - don't judge me!) She is so chic, so graceful, so quirky, so fabulous - everything I love! If I could only be a chic French girl too for one day - oh the cafes I'd visit, the fashion I'd wear, the overall attitude I'd have!

Happy Birthday Seaster

Sisters are something special - you can't explain it to those who haven't experienced the bond. And today, October 4th, is my seaster's birthday! Happy Birthday to the greatest, most special sister alive!

PS - Cupcakes were involved!

'Dem Apples

I truly believe that apples are the official fruit of Fall. And I use this as an excuse to make all kinds of apple pies, tarts, desserts, etc that I can because I just love them so!

But I have to admit, they don't always come out as perfectly as planned. Operation yesterday - this was the case! I went about making a simple apple crostata, and it turned into a crumble.

Yes, I hear you - those are two completely different make-ups of desserts. How could one morph into the other? Well, let me put it this way - my crostata crumbled! So we will simply be eating the "crumble" this week, but don't you worry - it is still ever so amazingly delicious!

Oh Wonderful Weekend

What a wonderful start to what will soon be a wonderful weekend! Oh weekend, I'm so glad you came around again - and not soon enough!

How could it be that Fridays just put you in a better mood? One day - the start of our weekend makes us so happy. I think we should just have more week-END and less week-DAYS! Doesn't that sound good to you? Maybe we would be in a better mood more often. Just a suggestion!
