To The Mountains We Go

We are off again, but this time we're headed to the mountains for a week.  (Finally some cool weather, I am needing a break from all this 100+ degree heat here in Texas!)  I packed the flannel and sweaters, so I'm pretty much ready to hit the road.  What else do you need in Colorado?!

To Higher Ground

The wedge is such a summer time staple - really an all around staple!  They are so practical but give you that extra boost we all need once in a while.

Here are a few that I really love from Urban Outfitters.  Have you found any good ones?

Vows

We are off to a family wedding this weekend, and although I love attending other people's weddings, they just always take me back to my own and all the emotions that I experienced on that one day - THE DAY.  It's strange to describe, but it was the best day of my life, the most emotional day of my life and the biggest adventure of my life.  When the hubby and I were standing in that tiny chapel speaking vows directly to each other, something magical happened.  I committed to him and he committed to me.

With that said, I am ready to conquer anything in this life with him (good and bad) and would follow him anywhere and everywhere.  That was such a joyous day for me, and that's why I think I enjoy other people's weddings as much as I do.

(Is it obvious that I'm a romantic?)

Berries, Berries, Berries

I am so obsessed with berries lately, mostly blueberries.  I enjoy them frozen, thawed, in my yogurt, in my cereal, in the morning, in the afternoon, on the go and after dinner.  You name it, I like them!

What's been your favorite treat of late?

Cheer Up

Yes, it's Monday and we are all dragging a little (or a lot!)  It's just another day, but isn't everyday a blessing and a chance to make the most of what we have?  So, why don't we cheer up and get after it.  That's what I'm going to be telling myself today.  I'm in such need of a vacation!

Happy Monday!

Adventures

Aren't these images stunning?  They are from the great Katie Quinn Davies from What Katie Ate.  (Only one of my most favorite food photographers and bloggers.)  These shots make me want to get in the car and take a great road trip adventure around old towns in the South.  (And trust me, that says something because I am usually not the road trippin' type!)

But don't you ever get the urge to just get up from your day to day life and do something crazy? Adventurous? Scary?  The hubby, being the philosopher that he is, asked me this question - "Do you think those sudden impulses to do something crazy are moments of insanity or moments of clarity?"  Wow!  That's something I could ponder for quite some time and don't know if I could ever say I was 100% certain which it is.

I would love to hear what you think. (It will be great motivation for our weekend!)

That 70's Style

Call me a flower child.  Call me a bohemian.  Call me a hippie.  I don't care because they are all true, and I have been diving into the 70's deep end lately.

I am totally taken with the colors, fabrics, patterns and design the 70's bring to fashion (and design!)  There is something so free and easy to the pieces and everything just seems to . . . flow!  (And that is probably what I like the most.)

What's your decade of choice?

I made it!  Didn't know if I could hold out until Friday, but here it is and here I am.  (Sigh)  Do you ever have those weeks that just push you straight to the edge and drain every last bit of energy out of you?  Please tell me yes, and that I'm not the only one who struggles.  This week was a drainer!

I'm so glad it's over, but most of all, I'm so glad my love is home.  Yay!  You don't realize how much you could miss someone until they go out of town.  It's a hard adjustment to do your normal routine when your other half is gone.  (Can anyone else relate?  Or am I just a sissy?)

I don't want to keep complaining about how this week was so rough because it's in these weeks that make me appreciate the little things - a good workout to boost my mood, grocery shopping on the weekend with my love, making dinner together and just resting together.  Those things are pretty great and help me look at the brighter side of life.  (So cheesy. . . I know. . . but I don't care!)

It's In The Details

Design is all in the details.  (I've probably mentioned this a time or two . . . or three.)  It's the small touches that scream to me most of the time.  The way you arrange your side table, the vase you chose to display flowers, the combination of prints you put together.  The big choices are easy and straight forward, but the small ones, the small ones speak volumes.

I love this vignette going on above - low key and simple.

Love

Now isn't this just the cutest thing.  It takes me back 8 years ago when two 19 year olds feel into a young love.  A young love that then turned into a deep, true, never ending love.  A never ending love that then turned into a marriage.  A marriage that then turned into life, my life.

I can't believe it's been 8 years, but I consider myself blessed every single day.

Friday Flowers

Even though this has been a short week, it has definitely taken its toll on me.  (A lot of times those short weeks seem to do that.  Am I the only one?)

But, I'm sure glad it's Friday, and one of my favorite things to do on the weekends is buy myself some pretty flowers.  Yep -  I buy them for myself and then place them all over the house.  They just seem to brighten my days.  You should try it this weekend, it's a pleasant highlight!
