Who's ready for pie?

One day away from Thanksgiving, and one day away from pie!  I don't tend to eat it very much throughout the year, but once the holidays come around, I'm all in.  It's one of my faves, and I tend to get a little excited about it.  (Ok, a lot excited about it! One, no two, slices minimum.)

Doesn't this chocolate and hazelnut pie look delish from What Katie Ate?  Too bad I'm allergic to nuts, or I would be making this in a heartbeat.

On a more serious note, the holidays are about far more than food and pie.  I sometimes get wrapped up in all the details that I overlook the simple truth and point of the holidays.  (Does that ever happen to you?)

I'm thankful for my faith, my family, my health, my friends and all my other blessings that are far too many to list here.  Hope you have a great Thanksgiving full of gratitude.

Confession 010: Holiday Goodies

Holiday season is quickly approaching, and one of the first things my mind goes to are the goodies.  I tell myself that I will be "good" and only allow myself a couple of cheat days with a couple of treats.  But then as soon as the holiday cookies get busted out, I lose all self control.  A couple of days turns into everyday, and a couple of treats turns into every cookie in sight.

Why is it that just because a treat is a "holiday treat" it becomes even more desirable?  (This has to be a marketing scheme - has to!)  I find myself eating things that I don't even really like, but somehow can't turn down.  Can anyone else relate, or am I the only undisciplined one around here?

Time to start squeezing in the extra workouts.

Confession 007: Doughnuts

Sometimes I crave doughnuts.  I don't know why because every time I eat them they hurt my stomach.  I don't give into the craving very often, but once in a blue moon I indulge, and then end up in the same spot as always - with a stomach ache!

I think what gets me is that doughnuts give me a great nostalgic feeling that nothing else can really compete with.  (Right, Andie?  You know what I'm talking about.)

What's your guilty pleasure?  (And just to remind you - it's Friday, calories don't count!)

Time to Bake

Since I have the day off (sorry to everyone who is in the office today!) I figured I would do a little baking today - getting my "Susie Homemaking" skills on.  And on the menu - muffins!   I am a sucker for all things bread-y and sweet together, and who can turn down a hearty and delicious muffin?  Not this gal!

Let's Start The Day Off Right

I don't know about you, but I am definitely a breakfast eater.  (It's the most important meal of the day - right?)  With Christmas and New Year's coming up on us, (What?  It's already December 12th!) our schedules are getting pretty hectic!  It's seems like I have more and more things to do and less and less time to do them.  Anyone else?

So, my suggestion - let's take it nice and slow, one minute, one hour, one day at a  time.   And why don't you start off by enjoying your breakfast this morning.  Yeah?  What's your favorite breakfast these days?  Mine - Ezekiel 4:9 Cinnamon Raisin english muffin with grapefruit juice.

Thanksgiving

I am very thankful today (and everyday) to be so blessed!  Big blessings and small blessings included.  What are you thankful for?

Confession 002

There's a bake-fest going on over here at the Clay kitchen, but I need to get a little confession off my chest to you guys (because I know you won't judge!)  I hate the clean up!  No really - hate!  Most people don't mind it and can get through it because you have some yummy treats to look forward to, but I hate it almost enough to not bake ever again!

PS - Probably not, because I like cookies too much, but you get what I'm saying, right?  Anyone with me?

Granola

I could seriously eat granola and yogurt every single day of my life, but my favorite time to indulge is on the weekend.  It is the perfect treat!

What are your weekend treats? (Let me know in the comments.)

Take It Outside

Autumn is here (hopefully for good) and it's time to start enjoying the "outside" a little more often.  It is perfect weather to take your meals outdoors, and although patio time is a great option, how about changing things up a bit with a quaint little picnic?  And what better way to pack it up than in this cute bucket? Right - right?

PS - I'm kinda' loving that nail polish as well!
